one day
from out of the blue
a wildflower
appeared
and chose
this rock
as her home
part of her
resided
in a crevice
where his heart
would be
and that
changed everything
she taught him
about friendship
and he was grateful
until
her untimely death
sure
it’s a rock
but it
is now a he
and since her death
he mourns
rock requests
that in lieu of cards
be kind
to all flowers
that you meet
along the way
and thanks you
for your sympathy
